Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games

Once upon a time Sega and Nintendo were oppenents. Now they cooperated again for a Nintendo 3DS game. Sega developed and published the game 'Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games'. But here, only the main charaacters of each company fight against each other. They are sorted in 5 different character sets: Heroes, Challengers, Tricksters, Wild Ones, and Girls.

When reading the title I thought first of the Summer games that I had palyed ages ago on a C64 the were less than a dozen events which were done mostly by repeatly pressing a button or shakiung the joystick. The 2012 Olympic Games have not only really cute characters but also much more events. There are 50 Events and most of it have different control schemes. The conrols includ not just the button but also the stylus the microphone and the accelerated which measures how you tilt the N3DS. That makes it necessary that each sports event has its own tutorial.

To be still easily playable for 6 year old kids ( the game has an ESRB Rating E) the events are not overly realistic. So do not expect it to be too difficult. Still before each event you can choose between three different level of difficulty: Easy, Normal and Hard. The game has not only a single player mode also a multi player mode which allows to play against three other local player. There is also a story mode in which Bowser and Dr. Eggman want to ruin the games at London with fog.
